Mamaw and Sweet Grandchild #13.This morning we toured a few of the sights of Changsha. These are the most interesting places to us since this is Lainie's province. We walked along the Xiang River which Lainie was named after. They have recently revitalized the waterfront area and it is beautiful. We saw a group of men and women doing their Chinese exercises with fans. After the river we went to Wal-Mart. It wasn't quite the same as the US, but we were able to find some of the food we had been longing for. Then we went to KFC. Those mashed potatoes were the best thing I've had since May 11. Lainie really liked them too. After lunch we FINALLY had some free time and we all took a nap. When we woke up we found out that Lilly had gotten sicker. Her fever was 103 so they arranged for her to see the doctor. She has pneumonia. Lainie has been running a low grade fever and our guide thought it was a good idea for her to be checked out too, but she was fine. Just please pray that we didn't pick up any other illness in the doctor's office. It was very, very, very different from the United States. Iwill never again complain about going to the doctor in the US. It is a luxury.
Tomorrow we aren't sure what our plans are. Hopefully Lilly will be home from the Dr. about 1am. She had to stay for an IV. I think we are going to tour an embroidery factory at some time. The Hunan province is known for their beautiful embroidery. Here are some pictures from the day. Sorry that most of them have me holding Lainie. The good thing is that she has become very attached to me and doesn't like to be held much by anyone else. She did warm up to Mamaw today and I'm sure that she will continue to do so more and more.
To my Locust School Students: I've been working on some special pictures for you. Our hotel is near an Elementary School and I can watch them on the playground out my window. I'm trying to get some picture of them for you tomorrow. Thank you for all of you who are leaving comments. Today as I read the over 100 comments I was in tears. Just praising God for all of the people who love this child before they've even met her.
Trey, Jillian and Will, We miss you like crazy and we can't wait to see your sweet faces at the airport. Almost just one week away. Hugs and kisses to you. You are going to absolutely love your new little sister!!!!

First bath and sleeping beauty-looks like Little Lainie is very content. She is beautiful!!! Jen-I am glad you found some food to eat. I remember several times that I have saved you by eating food from your plate so that you would not insult the cook. May God continue to bless you all with safety and good health. Please let your friends know that we are praying for them as well, esp. Lilly now that she is sick. Love you all.

The title "Sleeping Beauty" is the prefect title for that picture, she is a beautiful child. We are so happy to see the picture of mamaw and Lainie together, that is priceless!! We will continue to pray for you and Lilly so that her health will be restored. Hope you all continue to have fun.

Glad to know everything is still doing well. I will keep Lilly in my prayers and continue to pray that Lainie stays well. Will is with me today while I watch Abi and Honor. He's doing great. We all can't wait to go get yall at the airport!! I have a little book with Lainie's pictures in it (and your China pics too) that I am taking everywhere and showing everyone. This whole experience is just amazing! Praise God for all He has done. It's good to finally see Mamaw's face too:)

Jodi had sent me your link a few days ago but today she told the children at school all about your adoption. Hey guys,
What a gorgeous girl!! Bob Sr was in my office this week and I told him that his legacy was one of a family that truly lives the Christian faith and that Lainie would be the next Barbee to carry out that legacy. He was so sweet as he was move to tears as he spoke of his children and grandchildren. I know that Lainie will carry the Barbee name with pride and honor.
We are praying for Lainie, that God will place his healing power on her and make her healthy. We worship an awesome God and I have no doubt that he will make her well for her travel home.

The pictures today were priceless... Thank you for taking the time to document your sweet journey. Glad to see you today, mom. I heard your message this morning and almost cried. I miss you!! Glad to hear everyone is eating well and finding some familiar grub. PLEASE PLEASE let Lilly's family know we are praying for her. I think of her as Lainie's little sister. Jillian was in my class tonight at church, and I let her share the great news of her little sister. She just smiled from ear to ear. I love all of you and miss you. ONE MORE WEEK!!

This crying is giving me a head ache. (like i haven't had one lately)....I looked at that picture of Lainie sleeping and couldn't help but to think of the verse(Zephaniah 3:17) where God quiets us with His love and rejoices over us with singing. How awesome to know our Savior sang Lainie Barbee a lullaby. Man!!...I can't take it.

Hi Jennifer & Bobby. I just love looking at all the pictures of Lainie. She is beautiful. I have printed one and will take it to work and put it in the book I have there to keep individuals in mind all day as I work. I am also taking what we had in church this morning. A package printed that states Passport and shows Ronny's and Judy's itinerary. Tom and I are praying that both Lainie and Lilly will be ok. Lilly and Lainie were again added this morning to the New Journey prayer list. As you all were. Bobby don't forget to sing some Third Day songs for Lainie!!!
