Daddy's Day!

Everyone wants to know why Bobby isn't in any of the pictures. So far, Lainie has not been very fond of being held by him, so we haven't had very many good photo opportunities. Today was different. We took a walk around the block and she let him carry her as long as I was in sight so I was snapping away.......

Please continue to pray for Lilly. She will go back to the hospital for the next four days to have IV antibiotics. This takes about 4 hours. Jan has talked to her pediatrician in the US and they think that the treatment she is receiving is correct. The concern is that when we get to the American Consulate if she is running a high fever they will not issue her visa until she is better. Lainie doesn't seem to be running as much fever today. Maybe just a low grade. This is common among babies from orphanages when they are adopted. I think it is just a combination of the adjustment in their environmental temperature change. Who knows. She is also teething, so maybe that is it. Just like any other baby, we are trying to figure it out by process of elimination.

Last night Peter came by and translated our documents from Half The Sky. This is an organization provided by the US for orphanages in China. They provide extra nannies for the orphanages and give them extra training about child development. Lainie was lucky enough to be in one of the orphanages that they serve. We were given a month by month report on her health and development. There is also a picture from each month. For months I have prayed that God would touch the heart of one nannie who would have a special love for Lainie. As Peter read the words written by this nannie last night, I knew that God had answered my prayer. There is even a picture of this nanny holding Lainie on her birthday with a small cake and one candle. Her words were, "Today we celebrated Xiang Yi's birthday. I had a small cake and one candle for her. We sang Happy Birthday. It was happy day." Thank you Lord for answering my prayer and providing Lainie with someone who had a special place in their heart for her.

3rd and 4th graders - I took some pictures of the school children today. I wasn't able to get very close because they have a very large gate around their school and it has an alarm that goes off if you get to close. We are going to eat lunch now, but I will try to post those pictures later this afternoon while Lainie is napping. Thanks again to all of my sweet students who have posted comments. I love reading them. It won't be long before we are home and you can see her in person.

Hey Barbees, It is truly a faith story that you are walking in. It is amazing how many lives you are touching from half way around the world. I have prayed that Lainie would let Bobby hold and love on her. I know how much he loves Trey, Jillian, Will and now Lainie. I can't wait to get to see her in person. In his great and wonderful love, Michelle

Hello everyone...I love seeing all of these pics, keep them coming. Bobby if you weren't so tall she might warm up to you a little more haha. I know its a hard adjustment for her. She'll warm up to you soon and realize what a great dad she has. She is so cute. I let Will look at these pictures this morning and he laughed when i told him that Lainie didn't like being held by his daddy too much. Your kids are great. They were with me a lot yesterday after school. I asked Trey if he missed you all. He said he missed you all a lot but he said he was having a fun time here with all of us. So don't worry about them. You have very special kids. Just wait till you get to the airport. You are going to have a GREAT welcome home crowd. Continue to have fun!
Mamaw don't buy too much! I can't wait till you all get home.
Love You All
Katie

Jen and Bobby you look perfect holding that sweet angel. I can tell shes going to be daddys girl. Well, Blessed by adoption sounds pretty good! (Ephesians 1:5)Gabby looked at the pictures and after we talked about the story of Lainie, she commented shes like me mommy. My heart melted: just remember God knew WAY before you did, that this day would come, and the bonding will be stronger, and #13 will always know shes a Barbee. Blessed by Adoption Too! your family in Christ Greg, Wendy and Gabby Lucas PS. I think you guys are real life Heros!!

Bobby, What sweet pictures of you and your daughter. I am sure that mostly women have cared for her and she has seen few men until now. I pray that your relationship with her will grow stronger each minute that passes. She is a blessed little girl to have you as her DADDY! My little Anna said, "They look so sweet snuggling!"
Take care of one another!
Still praying for you all and Lilly's family,

Tammy Heuts

Jennifer, Just FYI when you return you may need to stop at Wendy's daily after school for frosty's. We have stopped several times to get frosty's after I pick up the kids at school. I am helping to spoil your children while you are gone. They are absolutely precious and the best mannered children, you should feel proud!!! Keep sending those pictures, we pull up the blog as soon as we get here every morning to see the updates. Thanks for the pics and updates we love them.

We have been so blessed by reading the info. and pictures you are posting each day. We are getting so excited, and a little overwhelmed, about our upcoming trip to Vietnam. It just makes it seem even more real knowing that you all are there picking up your sweet, and might I say beautiful, little girl. Know that you are in our prayers. May God bless you even more.
